About Me

Why this book?

The idea behind Where the Truth Hides started when we had a family mystery to solve and turned to DNA testing. I might have become slightly obsessed. (Okay, I did.) We solved our mystery, but during our search, we also uncovered a secret or two. More than one person asked: is DNA ever wrong? After much research, I have found the simple answer. Families keep secrets, and people don't always tell the truth, but DNA doesn't lie.

Now, some people don’t want to know the truth. They’re fine with keeping the past buried, and I can respect that. But writing fictional stories about the secrets – I couldn’t resist.

The Real Me

There's the formal "about the author" I'm required to write but I'm going to share some REAL information behind the writer.

  • I worked at Coca-Cola in marketing for 24 years. (I know, I don't look that old, right?) It's not a coincidence that my characters only drink Coke products. I have to write in a little product placement. I was in marketing after all!
  • My DVR looks like a plot to get away with murder. I love true crime shows, Dateline, and just about anything on the ID channel. "Book research" is my story and I'm sticking to it!
  • My house is a zoo. It's a wonder I get any writing done. We foster kittens so we always have a few of those scampering around. We have several foster failures that came and never left for one reason or another, and then there's Tucker, my one-year-old golden retriever. He's a handful, and my days are spent taking things away from him that he knows he's not allowed to have but he takes anyway. If I could bottle his energy, I'd make a fortune. I'd be the first to drink it!
  • I have a teenager which means I'm only useful when he's hungry--which is all the freaking time!  He starts asking about lunch at 9:30 in the morning.
  • I managed to find myself a good man.  He cooks, so I pretend I can't. So far, so good. He fixes stuff and buys me rose bushes so I can have flowers all year long instead of on the contrived holidays. Neither one of us is perfect, but as we always say, we're perfect for each other.
